What we collect when you ask us for a plan, who else sees it, and how long we keep it.

Who we are

What we collect

For your plan, everything comes from the form at /start. We ask for your name, your business name and an email address. Everything else is optional: your phone number, your website, what kind of business you are, and the questions about how the business runs day to day, including the free-text box at the end.

We do not store your IP address. To stop spam, we count form submissions against a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself); that count is kept in our database and cleared after two days. Our host keeps its own server logs, as described below.

Why we collect it

To write the plan you asked for, and to talk to you about it. We do not sell it, share it for advertising, or add you to a marketing list.

Who else processes it

• Anthropic reads your answers to draft the plan. Your free text is sent to their API. We do not send them your email address or phone number.
• Supabase stores your submission and the drafted plan.
• Resend sends the email that alerts us to your enquiry.
• Vercel hosts this website and keeps the usual server logs.
• Google provides the calendar you connect (if it is a Google calendar), and Google Cloud's key service protects the keys that encrypt any copy of your calendar we keep.

If you give us your website

Your website address is optional, and we keep it with your submission. We do not fetch your website automatically: the mockup in your plan uses a standard look for your kind of business. If we prepare a closer mockup by hand, we take your logo and brand colours from your own published site and store them with your submission. Leave the field blank, or tell us, and we will not.

If you connect your calendar

If you use MarketStack's Control Room and connect a Google or Apple calendar, we read your events to show your week, warn you about clashes and help your assistant plan. By default we read them live from Google or Apple each time and keep no copy of your calendar. When your assistant suggests an entry (for example “Prep:” and the meeting's title, with its time), that suggestion is kept until it is approved, turned down or done, and then its details are cleared.

For a Google calendar, you can switch on “Keep a copy of my calendar in MarketStack” in Connectors (an Apple calendar is always read live). We then keep a copy of your events from 12 months ago to 24 months ahead: titles, places, notes, guests and their replies, meeting links, attachments, reminders, repeat patterns, out-of-office replies, and the details other apps (such as Outlook) attach to an event. Times, whether you're busy, and a few markers (whether an event is private, all-day or out of office, your reply, and whether it has a call link) are kept unencrypted so we can find them quickly; everything else is encrypted with a key for that calendar, itself protected by Google Cloud's key service. Older events are deleted automatically. An event you delete in your calendar is deleted from the copy within about 15 minutes. Switching the copy off, or disconnecting the calendar, deletes it straight away.

If you connect your email

MarketStack looks at the sender, the subject and the short preview your email provider shows for recent messages, and Anthropic's model helps pick out the ones that need you (you can switch the model off for an inbox). For those we keep the sender, the subject, when it arrived and a short summary. An item you have dealt with is deleted 90 days after you close it; disconnecting the inbox deletes its items, and a daily clear-up removes anything missed.

When you press Draft reply, MarketStack reads that one conversation in full and Anthropic's model writes a draft from it. The draft is saved in your own inbox and never sent: you send it yourself.

When you turn an email into a task or an enquiry, a PDF of that one email (sender, recipients, date, subject, its text, and the names of its attachments) is kept in that business's Documents, attached to the record, until someone deletes it.

If you make a Family workspace

A Family workspace keeps the family's name, each person's first name, whether they are an adult or a child (children are marked as under 18; we do not ask for dates of birth), which adults are each child's guardians, and which adults have joined with their own MarketStack account. Children have no account and cannot sign in. Please don't put health or school details in a name.

The adults in the family can see it. An adult joins only by accepting an invite from the family's owner, which works once and expires after 14 days. The owner can send it to the adult's email address — it then appears in their MarketStack when they sign in with that address, and they accept it there — or send them a link. For an emailed invite we keep a scrambled form of the address and a shortened one the owner sees (for example “i…@example.com”), only until the invite is accepted, replaced, cancelled or expires; then both are deleted. We don't send an email ourselves, and we never tell the owner whether that address has a MarketStack account. The family can also make a private, view-only family link for the children: anyone who has that link can see the family's name and first names (and, once they arrive, the family calendar and tasks, including places). It is not indexed by search engines, and the family can replace it or turn it off at any time, which stops the old link straight away. We keep only a scrambled form of each link, never the link itself.

Nothing in a Family workspace is sent to Anthropic in this version. When someone is removed from the family, their first name is deleted straight away. To delete a whole Family workspace, email us and we will.

How long we keep it

Your plan is published as a private web page at an address that cannot be guessed and is not indexed by search engines. Its link works for 90 days from the day your plan is made, and then stops working. Ask us and we will make a fresh link, or close it sooner.

Your submission itself we keep until you ask us to delete it. We have not set an automatic expiry on it, and we would rather say so than describe a schedule we do not operate.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us using it at all. Email ben@marketstack.co.uk and we will do it. You do not need to give a reason and it will not cost you anything.

If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
